Hi everyone.
I have recently adopted this new hobby/addiction. I have owned a Tesoro Eldorado metal detector for about 5 years. I recently purchased Garrett AT Pro and Garrett Pro-Pointer and within the first two weeks of owning it, it paid for itself. I recently took a trip with my wife to California and we did some prospecting at some claims along the way. I was metal detecting an old tailing pile from a very old high bank operation near Downieville California and found a shovel head from the 1850's that was about 8 inches under the rocks of the tailing pile. That was pretty cool. We then hit the coast and metal detected various beaches along the coast and met a couple of fellow metal detectorists in Santa Cruz, Chris and Steve (from Sacramento) that introduced me to this forum. My finds today which I have found within the last 2 months include a 10k class ring from 1968, an 18k Belais wedding band, (2) 10k and stainless wedding bands, a platinum and 18k wedding band, sterling silver Catholic charm, sterling silver necklace and cross, sterling silver "key" pendant with diamonds, 14k emerald and diamond ring, a real neat sterling silver and CZ ring, a 14k elephant pendant, a 10k or 18k Minnie Mouse charm bracelet, a sterling silver Thai hat pendant, a Lord of the Rings ring that really excited me when I first found it however soon found that it was not real gold but gold plated brass. I might also add that it was found approximately 10 inches deep. I have also found a tungsten ring, a couple of Sterling earrings, some smaller sterling silver rings and toe rings, and an iPhone which I am happy to say was recently returned to the owner. The phone was found about four inches deep in the sand at Pfeiffer Beach California. Amazing it still worked. The phone had been lost for over a month. I have been a certified diver for over 15 yrs and am preparing to aquire a complete scuba setup which also leads to a question....What is the most recommended detector for diving? I will be getting waterproof headphones for my AT Pro and will probably use that for a while but I am definitely going to be going deeper than 10 feet and will need a suitable machine. I am very excited about this hobby and have been putting ALOT of time and research into it. I love reading the posts that you all put in and love watching all videos related to metal detecting. Good luck and happy hunting to all of you.
