Hey everyone, new member here.
I am happy to have found this site. I have been into metals for awhile now, learning about coins and such and I just picked up a hand sluice and went prospecting for my first time, I had a great time and hope to go again soon. I have a claim in the Big Bear area and am hoping some on here may be able to offer some help and information. Glad to be a member and looking forward to learning from everyone here, Thanks

Thanks for the tip, I will check out the California sub forum, I've already found several helpful threads on the area i'm planning on prospecting.

welcome to the site .. what do you use to prospect with ?

I have an A-52 sluice and a small folding shovel, 4 mesh and 20 mesh classifier screens and a pan and magnet, I used old books and magazines and google to find a place nearby known for Gold and went out to learn how to work my sluice and pan for the first time the other day in Cattle Canyon in Azusa CA and I hope to return their again sometime soon before going to try my luck on my claim in Big Bear, I have found a couple threads mentioning Big Bear and one said a dry washer is needed which will be a problem for me, my claim has a creek- Holcomb creek, but I am afraid it may not have enough water to work my sluice or that the water might be seasonal so if anyone has any info on this creek it would be much appreciated. I have never been to my claim but I have seen some videos of some people off roading in the area and it looks very rough. I don't drive so accessing my claim will be difficult, I have mapped it out and it looks like I will be hiking about five miles to access it.

Welcome to Tnet! You live in SoCal and don't drive?? You may be the only one I know of! Good luck in your gold hunt.
