I am still a novice with a metal detector but in my first 3-4 months, about 40 hours, have already scored a 1903 Indian Head and 1920 and 1928 wheat backs pennies. One 64 silver dime and several other wheats. Plus 3 Missouri 1 cent tax tokens. And a 1920's hair scarf pin with garnets. Detected a beach in Georgia (pocket change). When my son upgraded his metal detector he let me use his first one, a Garret Ace 250. Together we have been detecting several times on some civil war era sites in Central Mo along with another novice and one experienced hunter. Yet to find my first minieball. But we are on some good sites, spending a lot of time researching, and hopefully before freeze up can come up with some more finds. Looking forward to profitable dialogue with new friends.
