All Treasure Hunting
Hello all. My name is Sean and I am a treasure junkie. I look for treasure everywhere I go. My most recent venture has been in scrap metal. I recycle old computers and other electronics for the sheet metal, aluminum and copper. In computers and high end equipment, I segregate gold plated connectors and such. For the most part I am just a high paid screw driver. I take the equipment apart and send the constituent parts to their proper place/highest bidder. The base metals pay for the gas and I get all this stuff for free. A couple days ago I decided to start buying and selling silver. I made a purchase of $19.00 face value of 90% coinage and sold it for a profit in a couple days. That was a lot easier than tearing stuff apart in my spare time and waiting until I have a couple hundred lbs to take it to the scrap yard.

I have always been interested in metal detecting so that is what has brought me here. I am in the process of researching my first purchase. I am looking for an entry level MD in the $200 range. I am kind of leaning towards the Ace 250. For the most part I will be digging anything that beeps. Since I already have piles of scrap metal, all the trash will be added to the proper pile. I am really hoping to find some silver coins but I think my biggest hitters will be fishing weights and lead shot from hunters. I live in a rural area very close to DNR prairie and a river. The town I live in is unincorporated but used to have a hotel, a school and a saw mill. The town church is even on the historical registry. Best part is that all this land is privately owned with the exception of the old school grounds that were sold to the state.

So, once I decide on which detector to buy, I hope to be back here to post some cool finds.

Hey there from missouri. :hello:

I have made my decision and put in an order for a Fisher F2. I am buying from BigBoysHobbies.net. I can't wait for it to get here.

Welcome from the Granite State (New Hampshire)!

MD is a great hobby and TNet has some of the nicest folks who are very willing to help out with questions.

Get out there as often as you can and enjoy.

HH (happy hunting),
Anita

Your location says you are in Marengo. If that is where you are, I am 7 mile west of you on 212. I am usually in CR at least once on the weekends.

I'm over in DeWitt (Quad Cities)

Not that it matters but I am up in the northwest part of Iowa. Also welcome to TNET.
