Got my first silver today after a month of hitting it hard nearly every day. 1940s merc. Found two hubbly cars also but the land owner wanted them. Got a cool lock, my first. Anyone have any info on this lock type? Should I clean or leave green? Green looks good.

I think that's a mini Sharp's rifle. Gary

Welcome to TreasureNet.

Do you think the lock is made from a copper alloy?

it looks english to me. Just a thought.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your first Silver !
No matter how long your in this hobby finding Merc's is always a thrill !

Cool Lock - don't think I've ever seen one like it before.
It's entirely up to you but if the Lock is all brass ...
I'd clean it in a homemade Electrolysis Bath and polish it with some very fine Steel Wool.
I've done this with several old Locks and they look great.

Good Hunting !

The little gun is in the same condition on both sides. Didn't wash it. I haven't scratched the surface of the lock. I assume it's brass by the pitena.

Excellent hunt,, congrats on the Mercury. Love the rifle and lock.
Congratulations
