New meetal detector... is it worth it?

Think it's one of the old BFO detectors. It will find coins, but it is going to find literally everything along with the coins.

Juat bought a White's Coinmaster 1000. I only paid $7.50 for it. How good are these detectors and do they only detect coins??? Help.
k.k.

ANY Detector ( either for metal or that elusive meetal ) that works is certainly worth $7.50.

Practice with the decrimination knob is certainly in your future.

Congrats on the great buy.

;)

Nope...you got ripped off. I'll give you $5.00 for it and you can count your losses... ;D

Yea, I'd say it's worth it. Even if you don't like it as your primary detector you could alwasy keep it for a back up or loaner. I have two prizm IV's and a Radioshack Discovery 2000 I keep around for back up and loaners. Nice find.

its kind of hard to go wrong for $7.50, aint it.

ANY detector that you pay seven bucks for is money well spent....even if you don't find your first penny, you've already found the treasure!

Congrats on the find.....HH/NS ;D

Any workable detector is worth that. I had a Coinmaster V in the 70's and it didn't have a discrimiate knob. It detected everything, but I still made some fantastic finds. Of course now I would never go back to it. Still, if it has a disc., it would be a great detector to keep in the car at all times, for when you chance to find a site while driving. You can always check it out, and return with your primary. Good catch.

In case you havn't already done it, I'm sure if you go to the White's web site you can download the op manual for you "new" detector, If it works it is worth what you paid. In its day it was a good unit. HH Stan...
