Took my new Deus out for the first time today.
wanting to see what it could do , I decided to hunt a spot that stopped giving relics some time ago.
I did not get very far until the Deus was screaming out a high note.
Ended up digging a few bullets ,camp lead and a broken knife blade.
I can't get over how quiet the Deus runs. when it hits a target it locks on and goes deep.
I'm very happy with this machine. Big thanks to Rick and Calabash for putting up with me.

I did dig more nails than usual. can I up the disc. a little without loosing depth?
I also dug my very first hot rock. only took me 20 minutes of digging and going through the dirt to figure it out lol.
it gave a great signal. but my pin pointer would not pick it up.

good job! Ive only dug a few hotrocks but it was mainly when I had the machine neg gb . A disc of 5 wont hurt depth but maybe try 2.5 first as 5 will knock out your ability to here them nails that is. I just got used to listening to them because im always trying to locate sites and then when I have tried raise disc and test it it changed the audio so I just never do it. I dug alot of iron at first but you will learn the audio it has alot of info in it in full tone so just keep that in mind when listening to targets. You did very well for your first time out with it congrats. OMT the hot rocks I dug had a very distint sound to them like something I hadnt heard before on my machine but I guess there are different ones that sound different.

Good Job.

Trade ya 33 old shotgun shells I dug today for one of those mini's:unhappysmiley:

Coal/Coke/Slag, are all over the board. Sometimes they can sound so sweet. You definitely learn quick when the pointer can't find a good signal what you got in the hole.
I dig cut nails occasionally. Don't fear them to much, your in the right spot when you find them.

One of them there shotgun shells could have bee a confederate button of a lifetime lol

that was my very first hot rock. the crazy part is that it was limestone ?
this place is full of the old hand forged cut nails. all sizes. I don't mind finding a few. but it sucks when they throw a high number and sound like a mini ball

I beleive when you learn the audio better they wont be such a issue there not for me any more.thats still a pretty impressive first hunt.

Cletus,

If you start to run into more than the occasional hot rock, you will start to get used to how they sound vs. an actual target. Otherwise, just an occasional annoyance. Since I'm just "down the road" near DC, PM me if you ever want to get together to hunt. I have a permission in WV near Capon Bridge, so sometimes swing through Winchester on my way there. Enjoy that Deus, it will make supposedly hunted out sites come alive again. I see quite a collection of minies and other goodies in the background of that pic, so I be prepared to add a bunch more to your relic case. Good job.
