Howdy,

I just started detecting, since I inherited some ancient Whites. Been having some small success in smaller parks but am clueless about where to go for coins older than 1970. Also, I have been thinking about an Ace 250 with the standard coil...anyone have thoughts on that MD?
Is anyone familiar with the Portland Oregon area and have some ideas where I could get out of the playground?

Thanks for your great advice.

The Ace 250 is a good machine and easy to use. Do some research on the older places in town and ask about detecting there. Many old newspapers give many clues as where churches had picnics, county fairs, etc. There is more ground than you can wave the coil over in a lifetime.

You know, some of those ancient Whites machines will blow the doors off an Ace 250! I own an Ace & it is realy a simple machine, I also have a Whites Prizm3 & think it is a better detector than the Ace 250. I know, just my oppinion but dont knock the ol' Whites! In fact, let me know which machines you have & maybe we can work out a trade, Ive only used the Ace a couple times in the backyard, it is new. Im realy wanting an older Whites with the VU meter but will try anything. PM me if you like xto! HH ;D

I forget the name but go to the park behind Omni and the Zoo. To the hill with a circular driveway around it. Hunt the hill inside the driveway. I use to be one of the hippies that use to hang out there around the trees. I remember the trees inside that circle were big and old and I believe the park is old too. There might be some good old stuff around those trees.
Also the High School in Molalla was built in the early 20's and had a big front lawn with some nice big old trees in it. Very small town so I bet it hasn't been hunted much, if at all.
5 miles outside Molalla was the Meadow Brooke School. It was tore down in the 70's. It was a 2 room school house built in, I think it was 1917. In the teens anyway. It had a ball field out back and a big high porch in front and a bell tower. It also had a separate wood slat floor gym beside it. I once left motorcycle tire marks 5 feet up on one of the inside walls of the gym when my brother and I were inside drag racing our bikes from one end to the other and I didn't get stopped in time on one run. It was abandoned and a little dilapidated by then.
I don't remember the road name to get there from town. But I'm sure some old timers in town could tell you.
Hmmm ? Hitting that wall like that. I think I'm beginning to understand why I can't remember any of the road names.
Oh well Good luck HH

Hey Guys,

The unit I have is a GARRETT Master Hunter DeepSeeker... not a Whites...sorry... Nice units ebay for 99$. Mine is very well used or abused...probably used. I have not figured out the settings but seem to get some newb finds to keep me going. There is a huge old trailerpark by me that was torn down....thinking I might find some stuff there. Might have to get my 250 soon.
I was thinking the Mollola/Canby area a good place.....
