New law in my area

The drop in prices with massive more drops to follow will do more to curb thieves than this pitiful attempt at trying to hold the fabric of your society together.
Its simply supply and demand .

basically it requires a drivers licence to sell scrap, which most buyers require now. They'll take a copy of your DL, put it in the computer and list all the sales you made to them right there. I think my wife would say that's a "word program". Everywhere I've sold to in the past 8 years required a DL anyway. This is also gonna make it easier to send out 1099s, you betcha.

it's a plot to track the sales so it can be recorded as income so it can be taxed....so if you don't report it as income they can fine you and get a cut of the cash!

Two or three years ago the city and the police wanted to put all the businesses together that bought anything from the public. This included pawn shops, second hand, antique, scrap yards, gold smelters even. In owning a scrap yard I went to the city meetings and listened to the crap. The system was ran by two retired cops that would report to the government. It would of cost 50-75cents per download to begin with, to put the info into their computers. This included a persons picture, the scrap description, picture of the scrap, two pieces of govt ID, and the price paid to the customer. I said it was a easy way to get us to do all the work for the govt to get the recovered taxes. It would apply for anything bought regardless of the price paid in total. I sold the business two yrs ago today, when they refused my licence for 8 months for not taking the ID from customers. I got the licence when agreed to take down plate numbers. For the better part of a year we had to take ID, only two police divisions in the whole city has these requirements against them. So the peddler just had to drive down the road, and become a Joe Blow and life was good. I'd loose a customer, so there was a easy solution sell out and retire. Now it's 365 of digging up scrap coppers, and silvers
