A few weeks back I found this small cross in the CW campsite I have been detecting with some friends. I have tried to get an ID on it with no luck.

Today I was doing a totally unrelated search for CW medals on another item I found, and the first image that comes up on Google Image search is this:

cw_medal.jpg

Unfortunately mine is too far gone to get a positive ID. It has an image that does not look like the inscription of the medal above. ANy help with ID is appreciated!

Interesting find... congrats !

Not that my opinion means much, but I would say you are right. Is it lead? I know it was not uncommon for soldiers to flatten bullets and make emblems such as shamrocks and other things identifying the company they were in.

It is soft and pliable. I was originally thinking tin.

It is too small to be a badge, as it is only the size of a dime, but I have seen field-made badges posted that are similar in size.
