New in the Tampa Bay Area. Where should I start?

Hello,

I have an 8 year old that is completely fascinated by fossils, history, etc. Is there anyone in the Apollo Beach (Tampa Bay Area) that could give us some ideas of easily accessible areas for beginners?

Not looking to uncover anything major at first but I would like to have a reasonable chance of coming home with a few things for his collection really accelerate his interest.
