Hello,
I'm pretty new to coin roll hunting and to this forum. My favorite threads to read are the successful hunts, so I thought I'd post one of my own.
I started this fine hobby off with with two boxes of halves. The first was a skunk, and the second produced a single 40%. I was a little discouraged with it so I switched to hunting nickels. I searched a few boxes and filled up my Whitman folders with clad, but still no silver. I bought a single box of dimes from my local bank (Loomis supplier) and gave it a whirl.
Here's what I found:
I was super stoked! The Mercury Head dime made my day.
After that, I did some pennies to fill up my folders. I'm starting to find more and more foreign coins. Are the foreign coins quite common, or are they more rare?
Today, I hunted another dime box and found some interesting coins. Nearly half of the coins in the box look like someone took a lighter to them. I think they were
marked by another hunter because most of the burn marks are in an "L" or "Y" pattern. I did find a single piece of silver in the box though, so I'm happy. There was also a Bahamas penny, and a few neat looking dimes.
The dime with the red mark in the picture looks like an error coin. Maybe a cud? It has a noticeable raised bump near the rim.
Thanks for reading! HH.
