I just got permission to hunt this old homestead. the house was moved about 10 years ago, but
you can still see where it was. Didn't get a chance to hunt it today but, I will next weekend if it doesn't rain.

spent about an hour talking to the owner today. we're going out there tomorrow.
he told me that he inherited the entire 640 from the original owners, who homesteaded it in 1871.
the original house was built in spring of 1872, it was torn down 10 years ago, not moved.
he is going to meet me there tomorrow afternoon and show me where all the buildings were, what they were used for, and what happened to them. across the road from this place is another place that belongs to him also. the house here was removed before he inherited the property, however, the place still has an underground storm shelter.
the barn on this place had a scale built in to the floor, which he tore down about 20 years ago. he still has the main scale head from the scale in storage. he's going to let me take some pictures. I'll post them when I can.
this place is very high on the potential goodies list, according to the owner, nobody has ever MDed the site ever.
I'm so stoked, I just can't wait for tomorrow to get here. I'll post pics when I get them
