Hey =D

GroundHound here, just thought id join the forum for some wisdom seeing as im somewhat new to this whole detecting/hunting thing.....was inspired by a friend to start metal detecting, about to purchase my 1st one. I have a basicly untouched beach close to me with miles of undetected shore and water so it should wield some fun, odd, and neat/valuable things.

Im comin at ya from ontario canada....any other members here from my strech of the woods?

Anyway, see ya on the forums and happy hunting

Also I have put some thought into what type of metal detector I want, Im wondering if there is any suggestions as to which kind to use for beach searching in and out of water...My budget is about 800 or so. I have eyed up the ATpro...dunno which others also fit that situation....suggestions?

hello groundhound, I'm new to mding as well. However, should you require wisdom in any other are of life, I'm your man....

Welcome and I can hardly wait to hear what you find on that beach once you get started! HH from California ....

just wondering how you know it's undetected

Been living in the area for years and years....never really seen anyone down there with a metal detector...but many people come and go for the beach....should produce a good amount of stuff im thinking

Welcome, sounds like that site has a lot of potential. In that budget, a Garrett At Pro is an excellent choice. You will be able to buy a detector, Propointer and digging tool for your budgeted price. Call us if we answer any questions.

EH..
.Groundhog, just started myself,you should do well at beaches, tobogganing hills are just as good,so they say. I am also still 'shopping' but you have lots of choice in your price range.
You can wait for the first melt in parking lots etc., and just go look & dig,no machine needed.
One thing I've learned from the pros at this site so far is that this is work;you are digging out in the elements,and 'carpal tunnel' is a real possibility .
I am hoping to get a used machine @Estate sale,but the ones just above basic @$250 seem a good start,most of these folks have more than one unit, one for a significant other, etc.,
the units can be quite complex and take some geting used to, the learning curve is like anything else: 2 hr ,20 hr 200 hr ,2,000 hr in a 'working year'. Welcome to treasure hunting.

Welcome To Tnet from Georgia. Happy Hunting. Just remember while you are out Md'ing you are getting exercise and you are discovering our history. Post picks of your finds!
