Hi all. I am new here and very excited about finding this forum. I have been reading it daily since a friend told me about it over a week ago. Looking forward to learning more here and love reading all of your stories.

I am a 34 year old female from Ohio and have been fascinated by relic hunting since I was a kid. Half of my childhood was spent hiking through woods and fields exploring and looking for old sites to dig around in.

I am working on compiling a list of equipment to buy to get me started with this as an official hobby, as soon as the weather breaks and the ground thaws. Could anyone direct me to a thread that has a list of tools that are essential for getting started? I looked around in the archives and didn't see any threads listing supplies for newbies. A good metal detector under 1k will be at the top of my list for sure. I am primarily interested in hunting for old relics at abandoned sites. I already have a mental list of potential sites to explore and cannot wait to get started!

Welcome. Besides a good machine you will need several tools for digging. Probably a lightweight but sturdy shovel and a smaller digger for more manicured parks/lawns. A good pouch or nail apron and a good pinpointer. I also use gloves at all times. That is about it! good luck
