Hello all,
I'm new here and just want to say hello to everyone. I have a question regarding coil compatibility. A sales guy at Kellyco told me that he couldn't see anywhere that the Fisher DD coil was compatible with the Bountyhunter Lonestar. He did offer to sell me one that was??? The Fisher coil has the push-in connector and fits fine. The lonestar is really chattery though. that's why i thought the coil was not made for it. the stock 8" coil that came with it seems pretty chattery as well though. In the meantime i bought a Teknetics T2 SE from Detector Electronics Corp. out of Boston. They treated me real well. I plan on my 13 year old son using the Lonestar and me using the Teknetics T2 SE. I live in west central Ohio. Got a lot of farm fields and a lot of parks to check out. My fathers property has a creek running through it and have always been curious what went on along the banks way back when. thought there might be some interesting finds there. Not to mention a couple decent sized rivers run through this area. any advice on how to hunt along creeks/rivers or any place for that matter. Any and all advice or opinions much appreciated. I'm new at this so i need all the help i can get. I'd really like my son to take off with metal detecting and maybe it could become our thing...HH

Thank you,
Jim

welcome to you and the son, be careful near the water unless the units are water proof

Hello and welcome to the forum Jim!

indains often lived near the creeks --both for a water siource and for food --fish and water based plants * as far as indain sites go look for a high bit of ground ( a living area that will not flood easily), next to a flat spot siuitable for putting in crops that runs along the waters edge area.--- pre contact with whites indians had little to no metal tools --a few might have had some trade copper made items from other tribes out west but not many --iron was unknown until trade with whites occured --however once trade started indains got metal items in hurry --iron axes and knifes and tools were hghy desired by indains and can help locate the camp areas of indains of this time frame .---of course a good campsite / living site was often used for a long long time so a post contact site might also have a pre contact site co mingled together --just like you like to go camping today with your kids where grandpa took you campng as a kid .--people are often creatures of habit --and a good spot today was often a good spot long ago, often it is what was there in the past that makes a spot a good metal detecting spot --so get to know your local area's history
