Hey yall, im Tyler, 31 from St. Charles, Missouri. Sorry for the length here, I have been wanting to share my finds on here for some time now. Hoping to get some insite/tips from the experts on here on how to further search/seek out possible campsites on my land. My grandfather owned/farmes 160 acres in St. Charles county not far from MO river with a large creek running thru it that dumped into the Mississippi river. I have 4 artifacts that were given to me off the land before it was sold about 2 years ago that really kick started my addiction. The land was sold when I was 2 and he purchased 273 acres in Callaway Missouri, a small town on the MO river. Mainly used for deer hunting. My hunting addiction lead to putting in food plots. 2 years ago I started plowing a 4 acre field that sits on the highest ridge for miles around. Overlooks the river valley that's about half mile away. Immediately after plowing a few rows real deep I noticed larger stones here and there in the field. After getting off the tractor I started finding all these rocks were stone tools, many hammer/nutting stones. After a few rains I was finding points all over. Since then I have been plowing the open field ridge tops on our property. The neighboring property has a cave on it that was excavated by archeologist in the 80s. The oldest shoes in world were found in this cave. 13 total moccasins found. Graham cave is about 20 mins from the property as well. 90 percent of these fines came from the property in Callaway County MO. The rest are from St. Charles MO. Here are a few pics. The pic at the top with the creek stain came out of a creek in St. Charles county last Thursday. This big blade came out of same one when I was shed hunting in March. My son found it crossing a creek on a deer trail.

I use to live in Columbia Missouri and hunted the fields, creeks and streams for over 20 years, lot of artifacts in Missouri.

Here is a photo of the cave and a few more pics. On the property there is an old foundation from the 1800s. The town is an old steamboat town. I've took the metal detector around it a time or 2 but when I am there in usually occupied looking for points or working on food plots. I plan to do some digging around it next time i get a few days.

Nice mix of old material in there. I see a couple of nice pieces of Hardins, the better half of a very nice Dalton, and then a lot of other Archaic points. As you start to dig, go slow and go deep. The plow is probably just hitting the early archaic stuff, there might be better stuff a couple of feet down.

A lot of times the really productive sites in your area put out a ton (literally 2,000 pounds) of tools and blanks for each nice point because that area has so much raw material available. (I've seen some digger collections where they have dozens of five gallon buckets of stuff.) You've got a really good ratio of early archaic points in these pictures.

Look for fresh breaks on pieces where you plow (clean white breaks) you'll probably have some refits to put back together this winter.

Heap o'good stuff you're finding there. Don't look like you need much advice other than what Josh said about getting below the plow line. You might be shocked at how deep they can be found. Thanks for sharing with us.
