Hi all! I have been playing with metal detectors for years but haven't had time to really get serious about it. It seems I'll soon have that time and I'm planning to finally do some serious work with my gear.

Years ago a Heathkit detector was my first. I didn't have a clue how bad it really was but I found some coins and a what I believe is a horseshoe left by a cavalry unit near Richmond VA. That property had been scoured for many previous years by experienced relic hunters, my old uncle always unconditionally welcomed them. A few years later I scoured parts of that same property with a Tesoro Cortes but found nothing good. Surprised I started to learn about metal detectors.

I finally bought an Explorer SE in '06 but had moved to the west coast where it, together with the Tesoro found lots recent coins but nothing else.

Oklahoma has less potential give up old coins or relics but I plan to give it a try. Hopefully I can learn a few things and tell about some finds here on this forum.

Hi Goldshot....give the Turner Falls area a good look if it's permissible there. I love that area of Ok. Always looked like a scene from any old black and white western!
