All Treasure Hunting
Hi everyone,

So I just joined here, and I'm also new to treasure hunting. I've had a bit of urban exploration, but not really any treasure hunting. So any general advice anyone could give would be great. Also, I would be really thankful for any advice on metal detectors. Prices, where I should purchase, what I need, places to start, everything. Thanks. Nate

Welcome from White Plains, New York! Great starter machines include the Tesoro Compadre; Fisher F2; Whites Coinmaster; Garrett Ace 250; and many more! You'll need a good digging tool - I suggest a "Lesche" brand digger, gloves and a "Finds bag" to put your treasure and trash in, kneepads, and maybe a hand-held pinpointer (although I've never used one in over 30-years!).

If you are looking in local playgrounds or parks, you are looking in the same place as everybody else since 1980. You need to start trying to research places people gathered in the PAST (1870 - 1950). You need to start thinking outside the box, and be prepared to do a little work with your head, not just your machine. Good Luck!

Wow, thanks. That's a lot of info. I'm in the Southern California area, so maybe I'll head out to the desert once it cools down a bit and check out some of the ghost towns, and near some of the mines. In regard to the metal detector, if anyone in the socal area has a used metal detector that needs a new home, please PM me. I'll probably try and buy used to start, to save some money. Again, thanks for all that info. Nate
