I saw Andy Sabish post this. The two after-market phones that accept the WS4 puck are the DetectorPro Gray Ghosts and Vance Phones and both have camps of those that opt for one over the other. The biggest comment is that the audio on the DetectorPro is not quite a clear as from the XP speakers and the Vance phones are tight to some users. When we are the XP Rally in the UK this September, we saw another option - the Central Soundz Wireless Whispers - that was comfortable to wear for hours and provided XP-quality response to targets. The mounting piece is also custom made from carbon fiber rather than using the XP adapter piece.

Those European headphones do look nice. I like the custom carbon fiber adapter for the puck too.

Here are some options I created for the handy person who wants to use more than just those three (or 4) WS4 options... and save a lot of $$.

I have made a few of my own "inventions" for the WS4 puck. I actually have it so I can slide the puck onto any set of headphones I own.

This is just a casing for the adapter plate so I can velcro it onto any set of my headphones. A 1/4" to 1/8" adapter ill used on my headphones I don't want to cut the cord on.

This one I turned the WS4 flimsy backphones into full on headphones. You retain the nice sound you get from the backphone speakers, but I put them in the same headphone shell that the Vance headphones use. I think it cost me about $22 to make since I already had the backphones.

the macgyver of metal detecting thats cool!

Haha. Yeah, I'm a huge fan of the versatility of the ws4 puck. I already had $400 in headphones when I got my Deus, so I didn't want to drop another $150 on Vance, greyghost or both for $300. Oddly, out of all my headphones the Whites Prostar give me incredible sound on the Deus and I have 500+ hours using those headphones. I like them so much, I'll probably dissect them and order the same components to build a new pair.... I've beat up the frames.

Anyway, those were the ideas I came up with to save a little $$ and give me unlimited headphone selection. I passed the puck adapter idea along to XP to make a housing for their adapter.... Hopefully they come up with an accessory and hopefully it has 1/4" jack as well.

I see I'm not the only one that On Ear headphones hurt after a couple of hours.
Good job with the adaption.

you should be getting paid! those are great ideas.
