1st - Welcome Aboard Jason! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting your state for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

2nd - moved this thread over to Forum > Our Discoveries > What Is It? for better visibility.

Looks pretty awesome! I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to old axes, but it would appear that someone tried to make this one lighter by creating all the holes. That's a modern method of sacrificing a little strength to make something a bit lighter. If this is really old, it could, possibly, have significant historical value. In any case, is an awesome find!

Oh, welcome to Tnet! :hello:

Those sure do look like bullet holes in that ax head.

Maybe not, they would have "bent" the steel a bit on the way through.

Just not sure...

Welcome tot he forum sir.

It's copper inlay and also it looks like the holes are punched out with a chisel if u look close there kinda squared
