Hi All, I just stumbled across this site the other day, and have found it very engrossing. While I'm not a rabid treasure hunter, these stories seem to seek me out, rather than vise versa. I'll post a photo of an artifact that my buddy and I recovered from a WW2 Japanese ship. Before you get exited, it has proven to be a bronze ingot, probably for an onboard foundry to produce gun parts etc. As you can imagine, we were pretty exited to recover a 20 Kg bar that glinted gold when we scratched it. We were already planning a champagne and caviar lifestyle when reality hit us. I have also discovered the wreck of a 1860s Baltic trader that burned to the waterline and sunk. The framing and bilge are intact, and this wreck would be a prime candidate for a water lift, except that 1. it's illegal here, and 2. I have no information that there was anything of value onboard. I had a quick feel in the muck and recovered some burnt and broken pottery. You could still smell smoke after 110+ years of immersion. There are a few other projects on the back burner, lots of unidentified shipwrecks. There is no end to the bottles and bronze knick-knacks one can recover here. Thanks for hosting such an informative site and I hope to be able to post some progress one of these days.
