Hi there folks,
First of all, I´d like to apologize in advance for any english mistake. :-)
My name is Everton and I´m from Brazil. I´m not a detectorist yet (I don´t even have a detector), but since I want to join this new adventurous world, I´m trying to read and learn all I can before buying a detector and start digging.
Well, this hobby is not popular in Brazil...as far as I could see, there are only a few people to do it....and this can be good, and bad. Bad because people have a lot of resistance on allowing you to dig on their property...or to even understand what you´re doing....and that may cause some difficulties on the way. The good part is, Brazil is a really really big country....and yet, VIRGIN to detectorists.
Historically, we a re a relatively new country...discovered in 1500, with little conflicts and wars...no medieval history around here....so, the "things" we can dig are a little bit limited. Mostly coins (from Protugal, Spain and a few dutch, maybe)...But there are a lot of legends regarding gold. Gold in Brazil was something easily found when it was discovered...the locals at the time, indians, didn´t care about it...so there was a LOT, everywhere. Although I´m pretty sure it´s not that easy to find.
I´ve been doing some research to try to define some places it should be cool to go...since I live far from the sea (I live in Brasilia, capital of the country) I´m searching for places where the scouts, early in the 1700s were going to find gold. There are some historical cities around here, that were based on gold mines...but then the gold vanished....and some of those cities became isolated...and now are surviving based on turism.
I´m not searching for gold itself, but those cities used to receive a lot of people back then, so it may be a good way to find old coins and this sort of stuff.
I was thinking about places like these:
Parque dos Pireneus Galeria de Imagens - Pirenópolis, Goiás, Brasil
Cidade de Pedra Galeria de Imagens - Pirenópolis, Goiás, Brasil
Cachoeiras Galeria de Imagens - Pirenópolis, Goiás, Brasil
But I have no clue if these are good places to start....any advice would be welcome.
Well, that´s it...I have to dig on the "reviews" section in order to find out what detector should be better for me to buy...
Cheers guys! It´s good to be onboard.
