New gold prospector looking for any helpful information Black Hills SD

Hi. So, I'm a bit of a scavenger and have always enjoyed treasure hunting. This year before summer is over my girlfriend and I plan on taking a trip down to the black hills in South Dakota to do a little gold panning. I'd love to gain any knowledge or information that could help me toward having a successful trip. Either way, getting away is fun. Anyway thanks for reading

I should add that I'm a complete gold novice. The only gold I've ever found was metal detecting.
