I know there has been a lot of interest and anticipation over what Garrett will come out with next as there "New top of the line." I was wondering what you all would like to see in a new Garrett machine. I know everybody always wants better depth, greater discrimination and better accuracy. But with all the new tech put out by whites and minlab, what do you think Garrett will have in store to try and surpass all of these?

Garrett already implaments the 24 point target id system. I think it would be cool if after the screen read a quarter at target ID 9, for example, once you enter pinpoint it would expand to a 6 point (or whatever works) analysis of the target to show how close to a 9 it really is. Does that make since? Anyway, that's my idea.

This is meant to be just for fun but I know a lot of you probably have some very interesting ideas as to what you would like to see from Garrett.

What I would like to see from Garrett is a VLF water detector again. A waterproof one with true disc and not a pulse which can be screwy with iron. Excals have Garrett beat with depth and disc while still having target id. Also not a floating coil like Whites has on their water detectors.

Tones for different conductivity, sizing to deeper depths, notching capabilities, and a PI with discrimination. Now as Sandman also stated, a nice freshwater VLF metal detecting is long over due.

A VLF water detector would be great. Different tones would be good too. I bet you could find even more rings if nickle readings had there own tone.

......I would like to see Garrett come out with a new VLF waterproof detector.....it would be neat if it was packaged in the Sea Hunter Mark II control box and have it use rechargeable batteries like the Old SeaHunter's so the Control Box would not have to be broken into to remove and install new batteries......also they can use a non-floating coil...........Now the down side........Garrett probably feels like they have done this before with the AT3, the AT4, and their was a VLF/TR Sea Hunter before the PI Sea Hunter!!.....all of these detectors have been discontinued and I'm sure Garrett had a good reason to do so..........in reviewing this........I would really be surprized if Garrett back tracked to any previous detector designs........For some reason Charles always had to be pushed into any of their water machines........long before the first SeaHunter........I saw a Proto-type......Garrett Groundhog and possibly an early PI housed in a Plexi-Glass case designed and completed by both Jim Alexander and Monty Mongrief (of Nasa).....they said that they did this to show to Charles what possibilities there were in doing such a design...........it must have worked for the first Garrett Sea Hunter came out about a year later.......the first SeaHunter was a VLF/TR type design..........now with all of these guys either retired or semi-retired not sure who is left to convince Garrett of their next design leap...........................Joe

I think Garretts are pretty attuned to listening to what the customer wants and remains competitive with whats out there, always been a great machine.

I would like to see;
VDI AND Notch disc. So you can change depending on what you prefer.
Deeper Sizing
Multi Freq.
More tone alternatives (So you can change as you want, but also i.e. ferrous/none ferrous sounds and conductive related sounds)

Regards,
Eu

other machines have now caught up with garrett in the last five years they just do it in different
way which seams as if they have a jump on garrett but it cost more money on some of the
other machines to do just a little bit more than garrett already has perfected in my opinion
it just took them longer to do it just learn your garrett detector to its full potential...

Having too manyy bells and whistles can be a pain. Having had a couple of Minelabs, I seem to make better finds with the simpler machine (Garrett). It allows me to focus on what I'm doing, not trying to figure out what the machine is trying to tell me. This way I can search more ground.

Best regards, John K

.....I had a friend go to the Garrett Factory recently.....he said that they were working on a new Dual Frequency machine!!.......Joe

That is what i have always said you don't need a display screen or a depth meter all they do is make your hunting go slower. You can hunt faster and find more with out all that hi tech junk put in your detector.

I agree with what Sandman has put up here that is all they would need to do.And then Garrett might have a water detector that would out sell the Excalibur.

And just how did he know this?

......I HAVE NO IDEA.......JUST REPEATING WHAT MY FRIEND TOLD ME........

I like your idea TG...about pinpointing then have another 6 points to see a closer look. I hope Garrett will come out with a new one soon. Id like to see a multiple freq machine aven if its just 2 freq. Maybe Garrett will do something different with it and maybe expand the Imaging to a fish finder type view....oh yeh.
