New from Nor-Cal

Hi! We live here in Nor Cal around the Sacramento area. We enjoy camping a lot and I thought it would be really fun to have a metal detector on our hikes and camp trips. We don't have one yet and I am wondering what a good, easy to use, about $100 starter model would be. We would like to be able to find coins, gold, jewelry, and any other interesting object it may come up with. We live near the original gold rush areas of Coloma and Sutters Mill.... We also go to Reno frequently so maybe we could find some silver. Thanks for any tips you could share. Interested in seeing other peoples finds and posts!

Welcome to the forums! I'd recommend you try to increase your price range a bit. The Fisher F2 and Garrett Ace 250 are good machines with lots of features for a little over $200 shipped. It looks like you have some great spots picked out to enjoy the hobby!
