I went out last Thursday and crawled around on my hillside Ft Ancient site and picked these up in a couple of hours. I found a really nice Serrated Triangle with a needle tip. Very rare to find one with the tip still intact. Also found a small Drill, another Triangle with the tip missing, a Bone Bead, and a piece of cut deer antler. Also found the usual pocketful of Pottery Sherds. The last picture shows how they scored these pieces and then snapped them.

Excellent very Well done!!

Nice finds that triangle is killer easy to see why the tips break so often , what a skilled craftsman to create such a piece.

Finds like that would make my year.

Kindest regards,
Kantuck

Those are some dandy finds, especially when the needle like tip are intact. :icon_thumright:

Those are some really nice finds Steve........that Ft. Ancient point is awesome. Glad you were able to get out, and enjoy the cool weather.

Can you tell me why they snapped them? Out here in NM they would break the pots too, but not the points. Maybe religious?

This is how they made the Bone Beads. They would score the Bone all the way around and then snap it into sections that would then be used as Beads. On most these the ends would be polished either from use or during manufacture and you wouldn't see these marks. This one is probably in the manufacture stage.

Can I come crawl around your hillside?....
