Well figured I would try out a new permission today before we get 6-12 inches of snow tonight. Most of the ground was frozen and still had too much snow, but I did manage to find some melted out south facing slopes. I was psyched to find my first two cent piece (1868) and it is in really good shape! I found the buckle about four feet away from the coin it almost looks silver but not sure? I am also not sure if its a shoe buckle or belt buckle. I also have no idea what the copper ring is any help would be appreciated as I am trying to age the site. Thank you

Umm... I'm jealous. Nice 2 cent piece!

Dang. I can't help with the other things but I can tell you that 2 cent piece is amazing. Great condition on that beauty. Congrats on a nice hunt!

I posted a 2 center a few months ago that was one of the nicest I'd seen (dug by Richie at one of my permissions)...until now! Congrats on a beautiful coin...truly awesome green patina and awesome detail...Ddf

Gorgeous buckle!! Also that 2 center is in great shape congrats. Good luck with the storm tomorrow. Here in western mass our snow just melted.....now back to a foot of snow

Just washed the two cent up with water I am amazed at the shape its in. I guess you never know what condition things are going to be in when you dig. Any ideas on the copper ring?

That 2 cent looks great as well as that buckle.

When i found my 2 cent i also found that ring almost identicle as yours the same day. It even has the little roller on the bottom like yours. Im interested in hearing what others i.d. it as. Thanks for sharing.

Nice coin and just before the snow arrived.
Congrats

Amazing coin. Check the back of the buckle for any makers marks. Pic looks silver. Post a couple more views of the ring thing. Is it solid or hollow? Any old playing visible?

Yep,, totally agree, buckle looks silver.
The 2 center was dropped shortly after it came out of the mint. That says that human traffic and activities were happening at that site during, , at least the 1860's.
Congratulations

There's two bucket listers for me if the buckle is silver, looks silver to me.
Congrats on some Sweet finds!!

Here are some more pics of the copper ring (yes it is hollow). On the shoe buckle I can not find any markings at all. And I had to post a pic of coin again after cleaned after soaking in water and then a light vegetable oil rub. Just watching the snow pile up here wishing I could go hit the areas that I spent the winter researching. Guess do some more research today!

Sultans was your by water? Mine was next to a lake. I am trying to think if its something from a boat.

No im afraid it wasnt. It was the front yard of an 1840s house surrounded by farms.
