Finally its been dry enough to get back on the crop. We had 2 more fields left to 'sample' on the new farm. I call it sampling but its the same as prospecting in gold mining terms. You basically follow your nose & get a taste of the field, you can pretty quickly cross some off the list; like the first one we cut across. The 2nd one immediately looked good, as it had a ridge of high ground, not very, but above the flood plain.
We headed straight for that area & started to get Lead, great we are on track, then pieces of Roman Pot Shards. Next question in our heads is how much did our 15 year resident detectorist leave us? Enough for only 3 hours 45 minutes:
4 Roman Coins - 1 good album coin (for the owners)
Hammered Ed III York Mint
1806/07 Penny
Jetton
13th C Annular Buckle/Brooch (no pin)
14th-15th C Locking Buckle
Tudor Buckle
Silver plated 18th C Breech Buckle
Roman Fibula piece (catchplate end)
1/2 a Saxon Strapend (congrats to Dad)
A mystery Roman item, which I'm pretty sure is a Key Handle (but can't find anyones similar)
