I read there is a new 5in round DD coil coming out there are some pics out
I'm sure it will be a good one but i all ready have the 6.5 x 3.5 concentric
When i heard of a new DD i was hoping for something between the 6.5
and the 11 DD that i like but is a little big in the brush/woods
Oh well maybe next time Thanks Mike

I know what you mean. I feel that the 11" DD coil is absolutely fabulous - other than the physical size of it - and inability to fit it in real small places - it is EXTREMELY good at separating targets. I'm thinking about getting the 6.5 x 3.5 coil, though. Is the 6.5 coil better at separating targets? How does the depth compare?

I probably will not get that round 5" coil for a while if at all,

Ian

Hi Ian i guess if you dont have any small coils i would get the 5in DD because its a DD it will separate better in trash
I have never been in so much trash my 6.5 could not be used A detecting bud i hunt with has a Troy x3 with a 10x5 DD
It looks small comepared to my 11in x 7.5 ish DD The fact that DDs are tight to begin with means it can be bigger
I read its a good nugget hunter and i don't hunt nuggets[ to far away] it seems small for that
The 11in DD is great but hard to swing in the woods that's why i was hoping for a 8.5 x 4.5 ish would be great

Thanks Mike

Mike,

Please explain to me why you think the DD coil will "separate better in trash". Joe

I think the reason is that the DD style has a long but narrow "sweet spot" of greater sensitivity that runs from the front to the back of the coil and by sweeping and then sweeping again at a 90º opposed path you can eliminate the effect of trash near a good target. I'm a fan of the DD style.

Thanks Charlie well said. I would add to that in my experiences if i had to equate the 11DD to a concentric an 8in would be close
I have a CZ with a 12in coil i use on the beach and want to try in some open parks this spring. I would not dream of using it on
a old park i hunt with the 11DD filled with trash A bud of mine with a 9.5 concentric said this place is useless as he dumps a pile
of trash from his pouch my small amount of trash some keys and some old Wheaties and said i will be back stuff is hiding here
HH Mike
