I had the opportunity to detect while I was visiting family up in New England and found this along a hiking trail that was in an area with lots of old foundations and cellars. It was found in north eastern part of Massachusetts. It looks like a badge or emblem of some kind. It's slightly curved, made of copper/brass, is 2" long and weighs about 13.5 grams. The back does not have anything on it other than the negative impression of the front.

I've tried researching it and have come up empty.

That's a beauty! Nice score ... It may be a Loyal Order of the Moose delegate badge or something of that nature. Their conventions are called the New England Field Days.

DCMatt - Interesting that the date in that article is 1916. I was looking with a loop as close as I can too see if there were any other letters on it, and saw on the back a small mark with a "16" below it.

I emailed the Scottish Right Masonic Museum & Library to see if they can verify. I think it's likely that is what it is from, but I have found nothing online saying that the L.O.O.M. had events called Field Days.

HA! Well I guess that's enough... I completely overlooked the title of first article you posted... it's the cold medicine. Thanks!
