I've had my eye on this thing for a while, and as of today it's mine. I'm thinking it came from a doctor, dentist or barber and is likely early 1900's. I'm going to have it sandblasted, and repaint it and replace the broken glass in the next couple months, and I think it will be a great display case for all the weird junk I have laying around.

Looks awesome, hope you post pics when you finish restoring it!

That's a nice case! Sure is gonna look good when you finish it. Great find!!

That thing is awesome, holy crap !!
Any Idea what color or finish your going to put on it ?
Can't wait to see the finished product, make sure a pro handles it...
Keep @ it and HH !!

I like that a lot and I'm thinking I like that old patina on it.

That's really cool, early things like that were built to last, unlike half of the garbage they make nowadays. Great find!

Wow, that display is a beautiful pc

Very cool piece !

Thanks everyone! The story on this thing is pretty good in itself. It was found by a friend on a junk heap right after Hurricane Katrina. It has sat since then waiting to have someone take better care of it, and now that my friend moved and couldn't take it, it's mine, and will get the care it deserves. I like the old worn look of it too, but unfortunately I'm pretty sure that is several layers of lead paint flaking off of it. I'm planning to completely strip it, and use a bright white appliance epoxy paint on it which should look close to original, and replace the broken glass. As relicmeister said, I do want to put a light inside, and I think I'd like to have a mirror in the back.

I'm trying to research it, and see if I can track down a manufacturer. I'm pretty sure it had a makers tag on it at one time, and I'd love to try and find another one for it.

Wow that brings back memories ... not really fond ones either. About 50 years ago when I was a wee lad ... my doctor had a cabinet like that in his office. He kept syringes in it. Not the modern disposable kind but the stanless steel holder that you placed a glass vial in. I'm sure that where my great dislike for needles came from... oooooo

Very unique find. That will look great when you get it finished. And some big whiskey jugs would look nice on the bottom shelf.

I think the cat has staked a claim on the bottom shelf, so I'll have to watch what I put there until she's bored with it.

I've found a couple like it for sale online..... both around $2000.00!.......... WOW!!!!!!
