Generally you get what you pay for.. It also depends on what you're hunting for. I hunt mostly in the water so my main detector is an underwater unit. But I also hunt on land with a detector that enables me to discriminate out a lot of trash when the situation calls for it. Do plenty of research, you'll find a lot of usefull info here on Tnet
 

The ace 250 is a good machine. I have found many things with it. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,339977.0.html. However, it's more for using at parks and places like that. If your looking to hunt at home sites in the woods the 250 has problems dealing with iron which old home sites are loaded with iron. What ever machine you get take the time to learn it before you think you need something better. It took me close to a year to really understand what my 250 was telling me.
