trying to get back into mding and just bought a new Prizm III. Just want to know if I made a good purchase. I have a bad back and can only go for about a half hour at a time.

I think you will do just fine with it. I've heard good things about it. The detector you buy should reflect what you want to hunt, the area, and your own preference.
I have the Ace 250, and I love that it is light weight and easy to use. Now because I want one with more ummph, I just ordered the 2500 gti with the eagle eye. Yes folks I finally sweet talked hubby
...alright down right bribed him 
for it but it is on its way to me! (and that is what really counts)! If ya'll hear of UPS STALKER in south TX, don't be alarmed it's just me.
So as I was saying if later you feel you need more you can always upgrade.
