Metal Detecting
for about the same price, I can get a coinmaster GT or an older used XLT, either a rainbow or E-series.
I want to know what the better detector would be. I do almost exclusively coin shooting in parks, yards, and the occasional field where a house was.
is the weight of the xlt an issue? what about reliability?
I have never owned a whites but have a classic I ID coming in the mail as my first Whites detector
Thanks in advance for any help!

Can not comment on the XLT but I have the GT and am happy with it. I have nothing to compare it to since it is my first machine. I believe the XLT is a bit more complicated to master vs the CM GT. It was fairly simple as a complete novelist to turn it on, swing it and dig a coin.. just clad but that is my area not the machine. The one drawback of he GT is Whites only makes the stock 9" spider coil and a 4x6 shooter for it. If you want anything else the after market company NEL makes them but they are located in the Ukraine..
Feel free to ask any specific questions about the CM GT.

Well I think that the xlt is a superior detector, but, it all depends on you and your way of detecting. If you want a simple machine or a complicated one... If you want a lightweight or a bit more heavy one.
If I had to choose I would go with the xlt. But that is just me.

I would say the XLT in the stock coin program would be far superior tahn the Coinmaster.

I have the Spectrum series XLT, bought it new.

The more you use it, the better it works.

XLT by far. Lots more coils to choose from also.

thanks guys! I think you made up my mind! I'm 17 so I'm sure I can figure out how to use the xlt. :occasion14:

What do you mean, that we old timers wouldn't be? ..... Hahahaha just kidding...

I agree, the XLT all the way. The XLT is one of Whites all time best detectors. I've had mine since before you were born and I won't be selling it anytime soon either. In fact, I just sold my V3i and have gone back to my trusty XLT and feel like meeting back up with an old friend. Stable, smooth, consistent ID, top-notch build quality, and a proven technological lineage. You'll soon love your XLT too Antlerman.
