Well after some consideration I ended up ordering me the AT Gold. I have been fit to be tied waiting for this to come in. I am working long hours at night and sleeping days. But when I wake up this afternoon and walked in the living room seeing a package on the floor I was like a kid at christmas. I quickly put the coffee on and proceeded to tear into the box. After I got it assembled I rushed to get dressed for work. I had a whopping 15 min to play with it. I went outside and GB like the videos say and in no time I had me a pull tab :headbang:(45 on the scale). Burried that hole and put the machine in Disc 2 just because and started to swing and found a target that hit a solid 85 on the scale but did not have time to dig because I had to leave for work.

I cant wait until I have more time to play with this thing. This is my very first detector and the thoughts of finding lost history, coins and jewelry are quite exciting.

I sure like my AT Gold. The recovery speed is so fast. Spend some time learning the Iron Audio--I went to a tot lot for an hour and checked every signal with Iron Audio then dug it anyway just to see. And learn how much iron discrimination you need for the place you are working (iron masking)--I've dug many nails with a good target right beside it. Of course watch all the training videos on the Garrett website. The All Metal Mode is probably more than you want right now, but if you get into an area without much trash try to learn to spot the narrow, sharp, faint, targets. These are the deep ones and they might not read accurately on the target ID scale. You can dig a few inches then check again. Remember all machines have a learning curve. When you get to an area that overwhelms you, I suggest you go somewhere else with less trash until you get some practice.

I am pretty excited about this thing. I have a lot to learn but I don't mind. I have a night off next friday and I plan on going to the beach all night. Hopefully learn a little more about my machine and who knows maybe I will get lucky.

Congrats! It only gets better!
