I went out on a limb and bought something not in my normal sphere of knowledge. For five bucks I couldn't pass up this mid century cookie jar. It might also be part of a canister set. I thought a give it a try and see if I could do anything with it. Nice! I also bought stuff I have never bought before! About to make a post!

I was gonna guess probably a cookie jar, but after doing a quick search I find that may not be the more probable possibility. In any case, as there is only one, it is now a cookie jar. A vintage square ceramic cookie jar. ...And it is now worth much more than $5! I'm not up on prices but I'd guess somewhere about $20 maybe? Even at $10, that's a 200% profit!!

Thank you. I like the small size. I have it listed for $17.95 so we will see how it goes.

The wife and I went to an antique consignment shop many years ago, and she saw a pig cookie jar with an outrageous price on it. A few months went by and we were at an auction and, wouldn't you know, another of these old cookie jars showed up. One other bidder tried to get it, but my wife was determined. The other bidder went up to $60. He lost.

I know we still have that cookie jar around here somewhere, but I'll be danged if she's afraid to even set it out on display! :tongue3:
Better luck on selling your cookie jar. :laughing7:

A cookie jar would not be decorated in a fruit motif and canister sets generally do not have side-mounted handles.
