Never thought this would be in a hunted out CS Civil War camp

Relic Hunting
I just had to get out today and tried one of our hunted out CS camps. There has been some good relics come out of this small camp, but we have hit it hard and it is almost impossible to get a good signal out of it anymore, or so I thought. I was hunting one of the hut sites digging iron and thought I had another iron signal when I see this sticking out of the side of the hole. I never expected a Memphis CS spur to still be hiding in the hut but must have been masked by all the iron. Checked to see if it was marked and was a little disappointed that it didn't have the magic letters but was still one happy camper. Had to stop hunting and call my brother. He couldn't believe that it was missed after all the years we have vacuumed this camp. The rest of the day was slow going which is exactly what I was expecting. Here are some pictures of it fresh out the ground and after I got home and cleaned it. Also the rest of my finds. Thanks for looking and good luck if you get out. Watch out for all the deer hunters as they were everywhere today. James

goes to show you what is still there... that thing would be hard to miss... nice save :icon_thumright:

Nice Leech & Rigdon enlistedman's spur James. I dug one without the magic letters too but the neck is broken off mine. Yours was a $300 score. Those F75s will find those relics in iron. WTG and Happy Holidays, Quindy.

Congratulations on your spur find James!! :hello2:
It cleaned up really nice too! :o

Is this iron bridle piece restorable . . . and what exactly is it? :icon_scratch:

Awesome spur. I have never found one ,still on my list.

That is a nice spur. Is it common on these spurs to have th wheel horizontal? Dont know anything about this CW stuff so anyone can post a link to CW spurs?

That had to get the heart pumping.. Great find, Congrats..

Nice one! I would have been there if I didn't still have gold fever. I hunted all over that hut site, 20 times with the Minelab explorer and fisher 1266. The F75LTD is a great machine for relics. Hey its bent and rusty looking. HH

It's kind of lonely hunting by myself but I don't blame you for beach hunting. You have been tearing it up finding the jewelry. Still in disbelief that it was still there. We have both hunted that site hard. Bent and rusty? You would have to rain on my parade! ;D

Thanks Quindy for your comments. Spurs have always been one relic that has always been tough for me to find and I am still pumped about finding it.

Just noticed it's a Raking Spur. The raking spur i found was also unmarked. If it had been a regular type it most likely would have the stars and a big CS on it.

Thank you Dave for your comments. The broken bit is unusual and I do plan on putting it through electrolysis.

I bet you will go back and check that spot again here soon  Good Job :icon_thumright:

Thank You James!
Looks like You have more spur styles during CW than we have here since spurs were used! :tongue3: Very interesting. Especially the raking style spurs... never seen before!

Definitely on my wish list. That's sweet!
