A few minutes ago I was searching a half dollar, bank wrapped roll and found a clad half that had a normal reverse, but the obverse is totally blank. I gave it the sound test with a normal clad and it passed. Of course there is no date on it, but from the condition and tone of the reverse, it looks to be from the 70's to 90's. In about 4 years of CR searching, I have never seen one like it. Has any one else found such a coin. I am assuming it is a rare error, but have no idea if it has extra value, as a result. I am keeping it, but I am curious...

It is hard to imagine how it could have happened, but I do not see any evidence on the blank side that it was sanded down or altered after production. There are some lateral scratches and marks, but none of the rotary lines you see on the inside of the milled magician coins.

Reason why I thought magician's coin is because of what looks to be marks left from prying. You'll notice them at 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 11 o'clock.

I think those are rim dents. The coin is solid, not hollow. You can barely see it in the photo, buy the edge hash marks show up faintly around the blank rim.

I've only found one penny which was blank on both sides. Never seen that one side was clear and the other normal. Pretty unusual find.

I think both sides are stuck at the same time. I can't imagine how one side could not have been stuck. Weigh it and see if some of the metal is missing.

I like that explanation. I think if the top side had been pollished down, they would have to go pretty deep iinto the coin to remove all traces of the stamped obverse image. The width seems about normal.

A quarter with geo. perfect on other side, see what is it by Boris on big sail silver under little jackknife, red book valve maybe $25.00.

They are. The only logical explanation would be that the die for the obverse got stuck and didn't lower to strike.
