Never expected this...

I have not had any work this week, so everytime my wife or I were out and about we stormed the banks. I have searched over $1000 in nickles this week alone. Lots of goodies were found :).

1936 buffalo
3 1950
3 Silver War nickles
At least 100 pre 1960 nickles
Many holes in my book filled
And then, just a few miniutes ago, something I never expected from a roll. Floored is an appropriate word. I feel like Oliver: "Can I have some more please?"

Anthony

Nice V!
6 showed up in my bags so far this year.

Congrats!

VEry cool find!!! :icon_pirat:

Congrats! I picked up an 1899 earlier this year! Definitely didn't expect it.

I never expected a buffalo, but now have 8. I dreamed of V nickles, but never really expected to see one. Now I am starting to wonder, could there be a shield nickle out there.... Nah, better not even dream about that, lol.

TxTim has found one, this year I believe. I've heard of others being found as well. Evidently they are still out there floating around. Probably in the 1 in a few million odds range though.

I am hoping to average 5 boxes a week for a long time. That gives me 520,000 nickles a year to hunt. Hopefully I can find another - someday.

I am not so sure they are just floating around tho. More likely someone dumped a collection and I happened to get the loomis roll that it wound up in. It is funny, I went to a BoA to get rolls, and the teller went off to get the box. 5-7 miniutes later, she returned with $40 in nickles. Another teller showed up, and added $20 to that amount. Of that, $50 was hand rolls, and $10 was loomis rolls. It was in those 5 rolls the V nickle appeared. Funny how these thigns happen! ;D

You're probably right. The funny thing is when I got my V-nickel, it came in a hand roll. :tard:

Its weird how things happen, but I'm not complaining.

Wow...I will never look at hand rolls quite the same again...

Hand rolls are hit or miss. 99% of the time its a miss, but when you get a hit with that 1%, it can be goooooood!

The famed V!

The nickle hunters dream!

I've yet to find one out in the wild.

Grats, nate. I'm happy for you!

And nice work on the other scores as well!
