Nevada desert find

I found this while rockhounding on the Nevada desert. Not sure what it is ,it has a hardness of about 4.5-5 and takes a high polish. It appears to be a carbonate. It effervesces when I put weak acid on it. I am including a photo of the raw material and a cab that I made into a necklace. Any help will be appreciated.

it does look like agate or jasper, but I didn't think it would react to acid.

Agate and jasper is much harder than 4.5-5 mohs scale, more like 7 mohs scale. It looks like a type of marble which would have the same hardness and react with acid.

Seems Travertine,a kınd of Marble.

Thanks for the input guys. I was kind of thinking along the lines of marble myself but was not sure.

I just Googled travertine and Turkish Man hit it on the head. Thanks again for the help.

My first thought was banded aragonite. Traverine also makes sense, though.
