Hi,
This was not found by a metal detector (although we did have one) this was found while I was exploring around a rubble site (knocked down buildings) with friends about 18 years ago. I'm just wondering if its real as I've seen one's similar online if not its an interesting find and a piece of history.
Your information and knowledge would be much appreciated.

This is what it is, but I think it might be a fake.. Nero, 63 AD. Sestertius. Rome. NERO CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG GER P M TR P IMP PP, Laureate head left / DECVRSIO below, S-C, Nero riding right escorted by a soldier riding right, holding vexillum. RIC 171; cf Sear 1957; BMC 145; WCN 114.

Ok well thanx for the input (I didn't think illed be so lucky) well I emailed a coin guy in America for a free consultation. I sent the same pictures with the size and weight and he replied saying So far as I can tell from the photo it is likely a genuine sestertius of the Roman emperor Nero. I'm going to bring it down to an antique shop in west end and see what they say.

Could well be real. I hope I am wrong but I am not 100% certain either way, it looks to be made of Brass, there were Brass Sestertius produced, but I have not seen this type made of brass. Good luck
