What's the sizes of these? What do the ends look like. Do they appear as though they went on to a pole or anything?
Because the one looks as though it may have been some sort of spear (? harpoon) end

thanks for the info BCH .... i am thrilled with a possible 1700's spike.....yaaaa hoooo....holy cow ! if i did'nt know better, i'd say that those 2 spikes were identical.....are those your spikes ? yes i found it in fl. along with these others (see pic below ) i have found 2 in the water and the rest on the beach after some erosion.....i think they are cool and i like finding them as much as i like to find modern gold jewelry....best wishes.....hh

Odds are, if you found those, you might be one of the first detectorists hitting that area. GO BACK! NOW! Then post what ya find.

No, I didnt find those. They were found in Florida. Here are some of mine.

Someone has informed me that the pronged spike is 1800's. Either way it is a nice find.

thanks again for the info BCH.....i could'nt find squat on the internet about bronze ships spikes ? your info has been very helpful......i see you are in so. fl. .....me too....i mostly hunt the beaches at night and try to make it to points south on the weekends if i can get the time....if you want to do a saturday hunt drop me a line/email....thanks....hh
