Hi All:
As posted I received a new Nel Tornado coil for my ATP and got to get a cpl hours on it.
I went back to a ball field that I have hit hard thinking it would be clean of coins the ATP would hit
Well eather I have been sleep walking in the past or this thing is a beast/// this from two areas of the field -maybe = to 50x 150 ft
most were 4-6” several reading 8” none 10 or over

(this is 5 days later0
I have completed 5 hunts of various lengths with the Nel Tornado coil on my ATP//
2 hunts in large parking lots, one Beech, one town common and one in a large lot set up for a common, weekly yard sale

Both parking lots gave up the same good quantity of coins but none at over 8” on the dial (=about 6”)

The beech was hit earlier by others and I got zero hits ( I was hoping for some deep hits below the other guys reach–zipo

The town common I did about ½ with the 5x8 and the second ½ with the Nel-- 15-20 coins but again nothing below 8”

the yard sale lot was about the same, good hits with the Nel but all would be hit with the 5x8

The Nel is heavy// I will need a sling to use it//
All of the above points out very little advantage to this coil//
I have a hunt coming this Sunday with another hunter and we will go to a new Large, winter parking lot
I hope we can compare hits etc.///
It could be that I have not been able to pass the Nel over a good 10-12” target but so far I see NO advantage with this coil//// Perry

The advantage is not just depth..it is the field of depth. If the standard coil and Nel are both picking up a coin at 8 inches, what is the width of a signal per pass of each coil at that depth? The larger coil is MUCH more likely to hit a signal that you can easily miss with a smaller coil by just moving your coil a bit too far. Compare- v to V

I just bought a Nel Attack and have found coins in areas that I have gone over several times with my standard coils.

Are you running full sensitivity ? Go slow I mean real slow. Make sure you ground balance. I hope your running in Pro mode, zero. My Storm will hit the 10" coin once in a while but will give me good hits on the 8' to 9" coins. How ever the coil has to be done super slow because the actual target size area is so small for a coin at that depth. When you get a weak signal you have to go over it a few times to get it centered under the coil. Then once it's centered you will be able to get the best reading or target numbers. Sometimes they will be good in only one direction because some junk is to close to it. Also sometimes you have to dig a piece of junk when you get 2 signals next to each other. The junk if it's closer will try t override the deeper target. I found sometimes that when I shake the coil over the target a few times the VDI numbers get more consistent. I hope this helps. Also the best thing about big coils is they cover the ground better. If you are going over the area in a systematic approach and try to cover every inch you will start to get a lot more targets. I go hunting with people and they are done with a park in a few hours. I can only do a few strips in a few hours but I get a lot more targets and good coins than they do. I also let them hunt ahead of me they get all the new clad and a lot of the garbage out of the way.

Happy hunting, enjoy that Nel it's a good coil

I took the Nel off and went about finishing up my Goal of 1000 coins-As of today I'm at 1003 So I think I'll put it back on and try to set up some good tests. Perry

Good posts so far. I just got the NEL Attack coil, and I can't say enough good things about it. First 2 hours out I hit a seated dime at 9" in a trashy town common that has been POUNDED by detectorists. Not to mention it was 4" from a huge encrusted square nail. But I knew it was a silver coin immediately, even called my buddy over with his E Trac to see if he could pick it up with his stock coil, which he did! I couldn't believe he got it with his stock coil at 9", but he did! The E Trac is an amazing machine, no question. But I think an At Pro with an NEL Attack coil is beastly too. Gotta go slow though for the deep targets for sure, and ground balancing is key.

For a thousand dollars more then the Pro it better.
