Needed a wheel barrel to haul away today's silver finds!

Knew it was going to be a good day when I stopped on the way out to detect today and noticed the kennedy halves in cashiers drawer. Asked if I could trade folding money for them, he agreed, then I heard that SOUND as he fished them out of the drawer and ploped them in his hand. 2 out of 4 turned out to be 40%. :)

Once on site the very first hole was '53 washington. NICE. Things settled down for awhile though, pulled 9 wheats then moved on to another site.

I'd been to this place several times, but with the weeds being knocked down it provided oppurtunites to get to previously unreachable places. Lots of cool junk, but no wheats, 2 clad quarters and 3 memorial cents...then the mystery wagon wheel of a silver coin popped out of the ground. Just about tossed it...this poor thing is badly worn the back is gone and only the figure remains on the front. Have to admit, this is the biggest slab of silver I've ever pulled out of the ground, slightly larger than US half dollars, almost the size of an Ike.

No clue what the big coin is, but still fun to find. OK, didn't exactly need a wheel barrel, but what a day for big silver!

Superb finds Jim!

I think the big silver is an old Great Britian coin
early 1830's sixpence I think like this one on eBay

Re: Needed a wheel barrel to haul away today's silver finds!

While similar in design to the half crown, in a seperate thread in "what is it", we finally hashed out this is an 1860 Prussian THALER coin. My theory is it was worn as a pendant for many years and this caused the amazingly worn condition. So what I found falls more in the range of lost jewelery rather than a coin drop.

What the Thaler proves is that anything can pop out of the ground at any time and, oh yeah, be sure to dig those big "dollar" signals.

LOL, panties, porn magazines and adult entertainment devices, oh my. :o And just how the heck does one lose a bowling ball or two? ;D

Heh, heh, heh. Sounds to me like ole Diamond Jim has been treasure hunting near a house of ill repute. ;)
