Need to know how to clean an old button

Can some one help me out. I'm kind of new to this and found an old button. I has lots of rust on it. All I can make out is USP.I'll post a pic of it to night when I get home thank you.

I'M sorry forgot to ask. How do I clean the rust off it? Also is there any one out there from A.Z. that knows of some cool places to go.

If its not copper use Electrolysis, or try an oil soak. (I don't like oil soaks messy and ineffective)

Shove it in a potato for 3 or 4 days. Seriously.

Totally serious. The starch eats the gunk off.

Ya just have to learn how to do it I'm new to this. I'll post a before and after pic.

Just don't leave it in too long, and use a soft toothbrush afterwards to get the potato starch and gunk off, rinse with water.
