Need to identify this tool.

This came from my Grandfathers collection. It's bone, 7 inches long and has an angled serrated edge. Not 100 % sold on it being American Indian. Almost looks Inuit?

Any help would be appreciated on this one.

Location found would be a great help. I have Bone Fleshers that came from a Mandan Village Site near Bismark ND that have that same grooved edge on them, though mine are made from a much more solid piece of Bone.

These are the best pictures I have of my good one. You can't really see the grooves because they have mostly been polished off, but they are still there and can see them fine in hand. As you can see though, this is a meaty looking piece of Bone and is very sturdy to perform the job at hand.

I have no idea where it was found unfortunately. Does appear to be a flesher but seems very narrow. Would take a lot of work with this to do a big skin.

On a large hide, it would be like digging a hole with a teaspoon.

For stubborn spots, or around eyes of a mask ,or a split tail or other finesse areas a small tool could help.
An ermine or weasel or a ground squirrel....who knows.
Speculation without provenance ...but squirrel hides made good parka liners,ect.

May not be a fleshing tool. A duplicate made with current sourced bone could be tried out...

I like the way it has an angle break right at the teeth, as if to rake something. Although it's probably not, seems too long for it, it does remind me some of a dentate stick, for pottery decoration. I imagine wood would be easier to fashion one from. But that's what it reminds me of...
