Yup, medium 5.

My initial thoughts pointed to the medium 5....and the consensus is medium by the looks of things.

I often try to narrow down varieties on some of the coins I find...our preconfederation tokens often present a challenge even in undug condition and some are tough and the complexity escalates when theres wear and corrosion hiding details.
Its extremely lucky to get an example nice enough to identify the variety confidently.
Nice half cent btw, the only ones I've found have been poor at best so to get a nice says a lot

It sure pays to have knowledgeable coin collectors here
My eye sees it similar to this small 5 which sold

The upper bar on the 5 looks too short to be the small 5.
