Dug this next to a catholic rectory. That's the priest house for all you heathens in the crowd! The house and church date to the mid 1800's. The small school next to the rectory dates to the early 1900's. Closed down in the early 70's.

This is a well made stamped brass piece. Cannot tell if it was painted or if the residue specks are just a coating from the ground.

There is some engraving as you can see.

Perry & Co
London
No 3003

An internet search shows up an English company known for making pens. They did however make numerous other products at various times.

No. 3003 is apparently a letter clip but the pics wont come up. The company has been in business since 1824 and manufactured letter clips in 1929. I think I finally got one right. :D http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/wiki/Perry_and_Co

That was quick.

Thanks for the ID.

I spent a bunch of time on google but did not pull up anything specific. I must be an amateur at it.

Thanks again.

I wonder if the other half is there?

Re: Need thoughts on brass emblem

I think I would be better off searching the old posts here at TN than Google. Most everything is right here. Im glad Marc was able to have a large enough server to keep all the old pics. The What I$ It$ will be a great database of metal detecting finds some day.

Im posting your pic here Buckleboy as it is the same company. :icon_thumright:
