is this a local militia rev war button? DSCN1281.jpgDSCN1282.jpgDSCN1283.jpg

Cant help ya but either way nice find!

I have all the books and then some. I didn't see this listed, but looks Rev War to 1812 period. I also have books on descriptions of deserters and didn't see anything there. I went through both volumes looking for an oddball I have also.

thankyou ,its a mystery cant believe it. Maybe I will dig something else from that site that will give us a clue as to who was there will keep you guys updated.

I kept thinking that I've seen it before and then AC Delco came to mind and ruined any hope remembering.
I found a quote on a site which could mean the wearer could be a local to where it was found.
(Poorer folks wore buttons, too, but they had to craft them laboriously by hand. In Colonial America until the early 20th century, working-class families counted themselves lucky if they owned a hand-held button-mold. You heated up the mold in a bed of hot coals, then filled it with molten lead or pewter, which set into a button shape.)
So maybe a local.

thanks it came from the trashiest place on earth lol paid to hunt there for 2 trips I havent even went back yet its so bad.

regardless, great find. nothing like a mystery in something you dig. that is part of the "rush" of the hobby also. it also is a vehicle for learning about things/objects. connect dug relics to history and you get one hell of an educational hobby. NICE FIND!
